Hi there, I'm Yvonne-da!
I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist whose foremost goal is to equip each client with practical strategies that effectively facilitate a journey toward wholeness. I hold a bachelor's degree in sociology from Davidson College, a master's degree in administration from Central Michigan University, and a master's degree in social work from the University of Texas, Arlington. My fifteen years in clinical social work have included evidence-based treatment of clients from all walks of life-from the severely mentally ill to the mildly impaired, Veterans, and those in the general population.
My approach
Because every individual is unique and presents with distinct needs, I approach each case from a person-centered perspective. My top modalities include Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Compassion-Focused, Narrative, Strength-Based, and Psychodynamic Therapies. My specialties include Anxiety, Depression, Anger Issues, Codependency, Coping Skills, Life Transitions, Self-Esteem, Stress, and Thought Disorders.
My focus
My ideal client is someone who recognizes the need or desire for optimal mental health and is genuinely motivated to seek change. Because each individual is unique, I tailor treatment using a person-centered approach and implement modalities specific to that individual's needs.
My communication style
I approach each client as an empathic listener, with a desire to intently hear their needs, perspectives, and goals. Throughout sessions, my tone remains calm, my demeanor poised, and my listening style reflective and non-judgmental.
My journey to therapy
Unlike a physical wound, mental illness is often an invisible wound that many silently carry. I was drawn to therapy by my need to help others overcome the stigma associated with mental health challenges.
